Semiconductors 2X (USD), 2015–2026

As of October 30, 2026.

A 2X fund moves about twice as much as its index each day, in both directions, and the drops are where that hurts.

  • Buy and Hold Drops: Fell 65% by March 18, 2020, 80.1% by October 13, 2022, and 68% by April 7, 2025.

acuTRADE Trades

  • First Trade (2013–2022): Held USD through a trade with 10 AT/B (Add To / Buy) signals, in which each SP (Scale Partial) sold 20%. As the 2022 decline took hold, it exited the remaining 60% on June 21, 2022 at $6.09, closing a +895.1% trade.
  • Second Trade (2023–Present): After seven months out of the market, it bought back on February 1, 2023 at $5.86, below its exit price. This trade has had 6 AT/B (Add To / Buy) signals; each SP (Scale Partial) sold 20%, so 60% is still held.
  • Current Status: The 60% still held is up 1,091.8% as of October 30, 2026. Through the April 2025 drop, the position never fell below its Buy price.
  • The Swings Cut Both Ways: From its June 3, 2026 high of $116.50, USD fell 41% to $68.72 by July 29, 2026, though the position stayed far above its $5.86 Buy.

2016–2025 Performance Comparison

  • Buy and Hold: Returned +5,889.0% (worst drop: 80.1%)
  • acuTRADE: Returned +2,532.4% (deepest drop below a Buy: 9%)

2X funds move about twice as much as the standard funds each day, in both directions, and are not suited to every investor.

How the results are measured

Buy and hold return: the change from the opening price on the first trading day of the period to the closing price on the last day.

acuTRADE return: the result of following every acuTRADE Buy, SP (Scale Partial) and Exit in that period, each acted on at the next day’s opening price, with the money left in cash, earning nothing, while acuTRADE was out. AT/B (Add To / Buy) signals are not included.

Worst drop for buy and hold: the largest fall from a high to a later low.

Deepest drop below a Buy for acuTRADE: the largest fall below the Buy price paid. It does not measure a pullback from a high reached after the Buy.
